Amount and method of use
- Take the medicine orally.
- Take the medicine with a glass of water.
Recommended amount:
Rheumatoid diseases
200 mg once a day or 100 mg twice a day.
Starting dose:
On the first day, if needed
400 mg, followed by another 200 mg approximately 12 hours later
Maintenance dose:
Start taking the medication at the beginning of menstruation or 1 to 2 days before the start of menstruation.
200 mg twice daily as needed;
Maximum daily maintenance dose: 400 mg/day

After that, 200 mg twice a day as needed.
Maximum daily maintenance dose: 400 mg/day.
Warnings and precautions
- Before taking this medicine, consult your doctor if you have any of the following conditions:
- History of ulcers or bleeding in the stomach or intestines
- If you smoke, have diabetes, high blood pressure, or high cholesterol
- Heart, liver, or kidney problems
- Fluid retention
- Having allergies
- Age over 65 years
- If you accidentally take more than the prescribed dose, go to the nearest medical center as soon as possible with the medicine blister.
- If you forget to take a dose, take the medicine if it is not time for the next dose, but if it is time for the next dose, do not double the dose and take only the next dose as usual.
- Before driving or operating machinery, you should be aware of how you react to celecoxib. If you feel dizzy or drowsy after taking celecoxib, avoid driving or operating machinery until these effects wear off.
Drug interactions
Consult your doctor if you are taking any of the following medications :
- Dextromethorphan
- Medications used for high blood pressure and heart failure
- Fluconazole and rifampicin
- Warfarin, apixaban, or other drugs similar to warfarin
- Lithium
- Medications for depression, neuroleptics, and hypnotics
- Methotrexate
- Carbamazepine
- Barbiturates
- Cyclosporine and tacrolimus
Contraindications
Avoid taking celecoxib if:
- Hypersensitivity to celecoxib or any of the other ingredients of this medicine
- Allergic reaction to a group of drugs called “sulfonamides”
- If you have asthma, nasal polyps, severe nasal congestion, or an allergic reaction such as itchy skin, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat, difficulty breathing, or wheezing as a result of taking acetylsalicylic acid or any other NSAID.
- Having severe liver disease
- Having severe kidney disease
Pregnancy and breastfeeding
Pregnancy:
Celecoxib should not be used by pregnant women (i.e., women of childbearing potential not using adequate contraception) during ongoing treatment. If you become pregnant during treatment with celecoxib, you should stop treatment and contact your doctor for alternative treatment.
Breastfeeding:
Celecoxib should not be used during breastfeeding.
Side effects
Every drug, along with its desired therapeutic effects, may cause some unwanted side effects, although not all of these side effects will be seen in the same person.
But see a doctor immediately if you experience any of the following symptoms :
Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, chest pain, weakness in one part or all of the body, slurred speech, swelling of the face or throat, nausea, more tired than usual, diarrhea, itching, yellowing of the skin or eyes, indigestion or stomach pain, flu-like symptoms, vomiting blood, bloody or black stools, unusual weight gain, skin rash or blisters with fever, swelling of the arms, legs, fingers, and toes.
Common side effects
- Cardiovascular complications: acute myocardial infarction, angina pectoris, chest pain, coronary artery disease, edema, hypertension, facial edema, palpitations, peripheral edema, tachycardia
- Skin complications: alopecia, cellulitis, contact dermatitis, dermatitis, diaphoresis, ecchymosis, erythematous rash, maculopapular rash, pruritus, skin changes, photosensitivity, urticaria, dry skin.
- Metabolic and endocrine-related complications: albuminuria, hot flushes, hypercholesterolemia, hyperglycemia, hypokalemia, increased nonprotein nitrogen, weight gain
- Gastrointestinal: Abdominal pain, anorexia, constipation, diarrhea, indigestion, dysphagia, esophagitis, flatulence, gastritis, gastroenteritis, gastroesophageal reflux disease exacerbation, vomiting, dry mouth
- Urogenital complications: cystitis, burning urination, hematuria, frequent urination
- Hematological and oncological complications: anemia, thrombocythemia
- Liver complications: increased liver enzymes, increased serum alkaline phosphatase
- Hypersensitivity
- Nervous system-related side effects: anxiety, depression, drowsiness, fatigue, hypertonia, migraine, nervousness, pain, paresthesia, dizziness
- Neuromuscular and skeletal complications: arthralgia, increased creatine phosphokinase in blood sample, lower limb cramps, myalgia, osteoarthritis, synovitis, tendinopathy
- Hearing-related complications: deafness, tinnitus
- Renal complications: increased blood urea nitrogen, increased serum creatinine
- Respiratory: Bronchospasm aggravated, bronchitis, bronchospasm, cough, shortness of breath, epistaxis, influenza-like symptoms, laryngitis, pharyngitis, pneumonia, rhinitis, sinusitis, upper respiratory tract infection
- Miscellaneous: cyst, fever
Other side effects
Heart failure, stroke, palpitations, pulmonary embolism, syncope, thrombophlebitis, ventricular fibrillation and coronary artery thrombosis, abnormal liver blood test results, abnormal kidney blood test results, anemia
Gangrene of the skin and/or subcutaneous tissue, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis, erythema multiforme, exfoliative dermatitis, Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, kidney stones, esophageal perforation, gastroenteritis, gastrointestinal bleeding, gastrointestinal perforation, peptic ulcer, thrombocytopenia, sepsis, ataxia, suicidal tendencies, acute kidney injury, anaphylaxis,
Drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms, alveolar osteitis (patients after oral surgery)
How to maintain:
- Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
- Avoid taking expired medications.
- Store the medicine at a temperature below 30 degrees Celsius, away from light and moisture.
