Indications: Infections caused by susceptible organisms, gonorrhea in patients allergic to penicillin, prophylaxis of malaria, Chlamydia trachomatis, syphilis, anthrax (anthrax)
Dosage and method of use:
Always take the medicine exactly as your doctor has told you. The doctor will determine the dosage of each medicine. The usual dosage of this medicine is as follows:
• Adults, the elderly and patients over 12 years of age:
General infections: 200 mg on the first day and 100 mg per day on the following days. The duration of treatment depends on the type and severity of the infection being treated.
• Acne: 100 mg per day
Take the medicine at regular intervals and complete the course of treatment as directed by your doctor.
If you miss a dose, take it as soon as you remember and avoid doubling the dose.
Swallow the capsule whole with a full glass of water and avoid opening or chewing the contents.
Take the capsule while sitting or standing. Avoid lying down for one hour after taking the medicine.
If you experience digestive irritation while taking the capsule, you can take the capsule with food or milk.
Avoid drinking alcohol while taking doxycycline.
Avoid taking medications containing zinc, iron, or indigestion remedies within two hours before and after taking this medication.
Take other medications one to three hours after taking this medication.
Protect your skin from sunlight, even on clear but cloudy days, and avoid sunlamps or tanning beds while taking this medication.
Contraindications:
Use during pregnancy and lactation:
This medication is in pregnancy category D.
It is not recommended to use this medication during pregnancy or breastfeeding, so if you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breastfeeding, consult your doctor or pharmacist before taking this medication.
Warnings and recommended tips:
Consult your doctor before using this medicine in the following cases:
• If you may be exposed to strong sunlight or UV lamps for a long time.
• If you have kidney or liver disease or are taking medications that affect the liver.
• If you have porphyria
• If you have myasthenia gravis
• If you have or have had systemic lupus erythematosus
• If you have diarrhea or if you often have diarrhea or stomach and intestinal problems after taking antibiotics.
• If you are taking oral retinoid medications .
Drug interactions:
If you need to take other medications while taking this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist.
Some medications can reduce the effectiveness of doxycycline, including:
antacids containing aluminum, calcium, and magnesium, or bismuth salts, and medications containing iron, zinc, and bismuth salts.
Carbamazepine, phenytoin, and barbiturates
Doxycycline may affect the effectiveness of some medications, including:
warfarin and coumarin anticoagulants other
oral contraceptives
penicillin antibiotics
cyclosporine
Tell the anesthesiologist you are taking doxycycline before you have general anesthesia for surgery or dentistry.
Side effects:
Along with its intended therapeutic effects, all medicines can cause unwanted effects, although not all of them will be seen in every person. If you experience any of the following side effects while taking this medicine, stop taking it and contact your doctor immediately. These symptoms, although very rare, can be serious:
• Sudden wheezing, difficulty breathing, chest pain, fever, and swelling of the eyelids, face, and lips, rash, or itching
• Abdominal discomfort, loss of appetite, severe, persistent, or bloody diarrhea
• Fever, swollen lymph nodes, or skin rash
• Very severe headache that may be accompanied by vision problems such as blurred vision, double vision, and loss of vision.
• Severe illness with severe, widespread blistering of the skin, mouth, eyes, and genitals
If you experience any of the following side effects while taking this medicine, contact your doctor as soon as possible:
• Herxheimer’s reaction, which causes fever, chills, headache, muscle aches, and skin rash and is usually self-limiting.
• Skin that is more sensitive to sunlight.
• Inflammation or ulceration of the esophagus
• Blood disorders that involve changes in the number of different types of blood cells.
• Low blood pressure
• Fast heartbeat
• Joint and muscle pain
• Abdominal pain and diarrhea
The following side effects usually go away during treatment with the drug. Tell your doctor if any of these side effects persist:
Common side effects:
• Feeling sick • Worsening of systemic lupus erythematosus • Pericarditis
Uncommon side effects:
• Heartburn • Vaginal infection

Storage conditions:
Keep the medicine out of the sight and reach of children.
Store the medicine at a temperature below 30°C and away from light and moisture.
